The body of an unidentified female was found Wednesday morning at an address off Pondtown Road.

According to Sheriff Wiley Griffin, the body was a distance away from the road, unable to be seen by regular traffic, and was discovered by utility workers. While no official time of death has been released, Griffin stated that the state of the body suggested it had been there for some extended amount of time.

GBI was requested to assist. The body has been sent to a GBI crime lab for autopsy. Anyone with information is requested to contact GBI Thomasville at 229-225-4090 or the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office.
