Georgia’s Emmanuel University is the No. 1 ranked college fishing team. They have also won prestigious titles such as the Bassmaster College Series Team of the Year and the Bassmaster College Classic Bracket Champion. Currently, Pam Martin-Wells serves as the head coach of the Emmanuel College bass fishing team, where she shares her extensive knowledge and inspires young anglers.
Beyond her impressive career, including qualifying for 27 Bassmaster Classics and winning the inaugural Women’s Bassmaster Tour Championship, Pam is also known for her fortitude and faith, having battled and defeated ovarian cancer.
The Association of Collegiate Anglers provided the first update to the standings for the 2024-25 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year effective through June 8, 2024- May 31, 2025. College fishing’s only all-encompassing National Rankings system is a 12-month race where teams from all across the country compete in dozens of events nationwide to earn valuable points to finish the year ranked inside of the coveted Top 25, or even possibly win the title.
The initial rankings for the current School of the Year race are based on results from a total of 11 events, which include two major tournaments and a National Championship.
Although, college fishing is not an official NCAA sport, it is managed by the ACA, which calculates points for School of the Year honors. Sponsored by MLF, B.A.S.S., and BassPro Collegiate, tournaments accumulate points to identify the top school. Without NCAA jurisdiction, school teams can have sponsors for equipment costs, and anglers can keep prize money won at tournaments.
Throughout the years, collegiate bass fishing has surged in popularity. It has become a fiercely competitive sport, with many colleges and universities across the United States taking part in numerous tournaments and events. Organizations like the Association of Collegiate Anglers and Major League Fishing organize national championships and school-of-the-year awards, attracting thousands of student anglers just like Godwin to continue their passions.
