Clara Carlile Harmon was born October 3, 1945, in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Kermit Sr. & Rubye Miller Harmon. Though a native of Southwest Georgia, Clara also lived in Clarkston, MI and Macon before returning “home”. She attended Providence Baptist Church.

Clara filled her time with murder mysteries, suspense novels, sewing, and computer games. Fishing was her outside hobby, and though she would fish anywhere, Lake Seminole was her favorite. Occasionally she would hit the road and those who knew her well knew if the compass was pointed West, Biloxi was probably the destination. Family and friends complimented her culinary skills, appreciating the fact she kept them all well fed, noting her baked goods would rival “The Cake Boss”.

Survivors include her children, Diane M. Strickland (Marshall) of Climax and Valarie Lagesse of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Kim & Garry, Daniel & Brandy, Joshua & Carmen, Kirsten, Jessica, and Kira; her great-grandchildren, Mollie Grace, Madelyn, Joshua, Heidi, Tyler, Hunter, Tyler, Ellie, Erin, Charlotte, and Aubree; her siblings, Gwen Kitch, Beth Boyd (Jimmy), and Era Horne (David); and a host of extended family. In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Ray Lagesse; her son, Melvin Dewayne Maxwell; and her siblings, Keith Harmon, Mary Chason, and Glenn Harmon.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
