The Bainbridge City Council met for their February meeting Tuesday evening. The first item of business on the agenda was a street closure request from the Mardi Gras Society of Southwest Georgia, requesting the closure of portions of West, Crawford, and Florida Street for their River Walk and 5k Run. The council voted to approve the closure request.

Next, the council heard a division presentation from Steve O’Neil, regarding the Bainbridge Oaks Disc Golf Course, which recently held its first professional B-tier tournament, the Reckoning on the River. The tournament had a total of 72 players, and according to O’Neil, the player feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The overall prize purse for the event was $25,337, including prize money from Visit Bainbridge.

O’Neil concluded the presentation by showing the council an autographed disc the players gave to the city.

Following the presentation, the council heard a bill from GIRMA, regarding worker’s compensation insurance, in the amount of $301,186.00. They also considered a split bid for the strategic response team; the bid was split between Dana Safety Supply, Inc., for $24,733.28, and Federal Eastern International, for $24,642.00, for a total bid price of $50,375.28. The council voted to approve both the bill payment and the bid.

The meeting was then adjourned.
