Last Tuesday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the new Bainbridge Walk-In Clinic at 535 S. Scott Street. The Walk-In Clinic offers treatment for minor illnesses and injuries without needing an appointment or insurance, all for a flat fee of $35.

Henry Intili and his wife, Barbara, are the new owners of the clinic. Henry, originally from New Jersey, and Barbara, a native of Bainbridge, share a strong partnership. They decided to move to Bainbridge 30 years ago, with Henry joking, “I’m here because 30 years ago, Barbara let me know, ‘If we’re going to stay together for a long time, then we’re going back where I was brought up,’ which is Bainbridge.”

Henry Intili, a nurse practitioner, has an extensive background in the medical field. He previously ran a Nurse Practitioner Clinic in a Marriott Hotel, worked at Emory for five years, and served the health department for migrant farm workers in Bainbridge for another five years. He also assisted Nomad Nurse with DOT exams in Bainbridge.

Intili established the Walk-In Clinic in Bainbridge because he “felt there was a need for a small clinic doing basic things at a very low price.”

His inspiration for the clinic came from an experience in England. When he was feeling unwell, a lady they were staying with referred him to a doctor at an old Victorian house. Once the doctor diagnosed the problem, he prescribed him medicine. When asking the receptionist about how much he owed, she replied, “Owe me? This is England, you don’t pay for medicine in England.” Intili came to understand that the receptionist operates under five doctors, but Intili’s standard doctor has staff who do nothing but insurance. This realization struck Intili, who decided to open a clinic that doesn’t operate based on insurance. He stated, “I don’t want this. Give me your $35 bucks, and I’ll see you for any problem. I don’t want to know about your insurance. I don’t want to deal with it. That’s not what I’m here for. I’m here for your problems, not your insurance issues.”
