The Bainbridge Bearcats delivered a complete performance on the diamond, securing a 4-0 shutout against the fourth-ranked team in 5A Thomas County Central, their first win of the early season. This thrilling victory resulted in a split with the Yellow Jackets, whom they had previously faced on February 15th.

The excitement began in the bottom of the first inning when senior catcher Graham Beckham hit a blazing line drive single to center field, allowing Parker Landrum to dash home from second base after stealing second base. The Bearcats’ momentum only grew stronger as right fielder Amarion Donaldson smashed a powerful home run to left field on an 0-1 count in the second inning, electrifying the crowd.

Designated hitter Brennan Enfinger showcased his speed and skill, hitting a scorching line drive to the right field gap. He tore around the bases for a triple, bringing first baseman Bowen Smith home from first base and extending the lead to 3-0.

Second baseman Jacob Barber kept the rally alive with a ground ball single to center field on an 0-1 count, scoring Enfinger and providing ample run support for sophomore pitcher No. 11 Preston Deal. He dominated on the mound, delivering 50 strikes out of 81 pitches. He pitched a complete game, going all seven innings without allowing a single run, giving up just three hits, and striking out three TCC batters (first baseman/catcher, Dom McCann, center fielder, Cooper Chastain, and second baseman, Tyson Cash).

The Bearcats’ performance was a testament to their consistent diligence, teamwork, and tenacity, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead. They faced the (8-1) Worth County Rams at 6:30 p.m. Friday night, and were locked at two a-piece throughout the night and ultimately fell 7-2 with a five-run inning for the Rams in the bottom of the sixth inning. Landrum scored on a past ball in the top of the fourth following a Donaldson walk. Center fielder Nick Cannon advanced to third base in the top of the fourth inning on another passed ball, and scored to tie the game on a bunt single by first baseman Bowen Smith.

The Bearcats hosted Monroe for their first region game on Tuesday, March 4, and host Thomasville a regular-season rematch on Thursday, March 6. Both home ball games begin at 5:30 p.m.
