Carol Fite, of the Tallahassee area, formerly of Bainbridge, GA, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2025, at 69 years of age.
Born in Albany, GA on November 4, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Rheba (Green) Fite.
Carol was the third of eight children, and from an early age, she showed an unwavering sense of responsibility and care for her siblings. As the years passed, she became a key figure in helping to raise and care for the five younger siblings after her. Carol shared a particularly special bond with her sister Mary. After they became adults, Carol and Mary lived together with Mary’s son Brandon. and the three of them formed an inseparable connection that was filled with love, laughter, and mutual support.
Carol was a graduate of the Bainbridge High School class of 1973. She was among the graduates of the first graduating class of the former Bainbridge Junior College. She went on to attend the University of Georgia and later the Florida State University. Carol spent several years working for the State of Florida and later as the assistant billing manager for Radiology Associates until her retirement. In her retirement Carol became an excellent self-taught home cook and enjoyed travelling with her family.
Amidst her achievements, Carol would tell you that being Brandon’s aunt was her most important and rewarding purpose. She was more than just an aunt to Brandon; she was a guiding light and second mother who played an instrumental role in raising him. Carol’s deep love and commitment to her little buddy, as she called him, shaped him into the person he is today, and he was, without question, her pride and joy.
Carol also formed a deep and meaningful bond with Jess, Brandon’s wife. From the moment they met when Jess was 15, the two of them became fast friends. They found joy in the same books, bonding over captivating novels, and shared laughter over their favorite television shows and music. Carol embraced Jess like a daughter, offering her wisdom and love, and Jess, in turn, cherished Carol’s guidance and companionship.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Fite Graham and her brother, Robert Walker Fite. Carol is survived by five siblings and their spouses: Sharon (Jim) Brogden of Trenton, SC; David (Lorrie) Fite of Andalusia, AL; Debra (Kim) Cleveland of Colquitt, GA; Richard (Angie) Fite of Donalsonville, GA; and Mary Fite of Havana, FL.
