Mark Richt Inspires at South Georgia FCA Decatur County Annual Banquet

The South Georgia Fellowship of Christian Athletes Decatur County Annual Banquet was held at the Kirbo Center. Mark Richt, a Hall of Famer and former head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs and Miami Hurricanes football programs, was the guest speaker. 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a not-for-profit corporation. FCA area director Noah Henson opened the evening, followed by Decatur County FCA Ambassador Andrew Donaldson. The organization’s objective is to engage coaches and student-athletes with the gospel, equip them with scriptures, and empower them to be and make disciples of Jesus Christ. 

A not-for-profit organization is an entity that operates for a specific purpose other than making a profit for its owners or shareholders. These organizations are often focused on social, educational, charitable, religious, or other community-oriented goals.

The FCA is a ministry dedicated to leading students, coaches, and athletes in South Georgia to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. They achieve this through various programs and events, including specific camps through football, basketball, and baseball, leadership camps, and small group Bible studies (called “Huddles”) that focus on discipleship bible studies with coaches and student-athletes, and for the FCA chaplains to team with coaches and athletes to change the world. 

Bainbridge Bearcat High School athletes who spoke at the banquet were Graham Beckham, Jose Bonilla-Ortiz, and Emma Ryan Shirley.

Events to pursue their mission of changing the world through the influence of coaches and athletes is through Fields of Faith which is a student-led worship night, and partnering with local churches and community groups from ministry opportunities. 

FCA envisions Jesus Christ transforming the world through the influence of coaches and athletes. It emphasizes values such as integrity, service, teamwork, and excellence. Their motto is “Every coach, every athlete, every student, every faculty member to hear the gospel on every campus.”
