Local high schools participate in 15th Annual Larry Clark Invitational

The 15th Annual Larry Clark Track and Field Invitational showcased remarkable performances, particularly from Decatur County High School athletes. In the Boys 800 Meter Run Finals, BHS sophomore Detric Burton finished seventh out of 21 participants with a time of 2:15.89. Grace Christian Academy junior Walker Elrod excelled in the Boys 3,200 Meter Run Finals, securing first place with a time of 9:46.57. His time ended up being a top 25 outdoor track time in Georgia this year, nearly 10 seconds ahead of Jack Sorensen from 7A Lowndes High School.

In the Boys 100 Meter Hurdles Finals, BHS freshman Michael Taylor finished third with a time of 16.29, followed by fellow freshman Corey Hawkins in fifth with a time of 16.67, and junior Diontae’ Smith in eighth with a time of 17.61. Smith also placed fourth in the Boys 300 Meter Hurdles Finals, clocking in at 43.79. BHS’s Boys 4×800 Meter Team Relay finished fourth with a time of 9:39.09.

Senior Stacey Glenn won the gold medal in the Boys High Jump Finals, clearing the 6-foot mark. Senior Braylon Phillips finished seventh in the Boys Triple Jump Final with a mark of 39-11.25. In the Boys Discus Finals, senior Randy Johnson placed ninth with a mark of 117-09.00, while senior Jimmy Thomas finished tenth with a mark of 108-02.00. The Boys Shot Put Finals saw senior Ronald Tyler finish ninth with a mark of 38-09.00, while Thomas secured the tenth spot with a mark of 37-06.00. Sophomore Bentley Butler came close to securing a top-ten finish with a mark of 37-05.00.

The Girls’ events also showed exceptional showings. Senior Z’Riah Solomon claimed first place in the Girls Shot Put Finals, earning a gold medal with a mark of 37-00.00. BHS freshman Kynadee Hawkins placed fifth in the Girls’ 200 Meter Dash Finals with a time of 27.04, and fifth in the Girls’ 400 Meter Dash Finals, clocking in at 1:02.60. Senior Zamiyah Ofton finished tenth in the Girls’ 800 Meter Run Finals with a time of 3:11.07. Sophomore Teagan Barefoot placed tenth in the Girls’ 1600 Meter Run Finals with a time of 6:59.75 and seventh in the Girls 3,200 Meter Run Finals recording a time of 15:41.99. Junior Jakharia Howard medaled in the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles Final with a third-place finish, posting a time of 17.17.

In the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles Finals, Howard medaled again with a third-place finish, clocking in at 50.40. Junior Ashley Mosley finished fourth posting a time of 51.18, and freshman Zykeria Oneal placed seventh clocking in at 53.87. Bainbridge’s Girls 4×200 Meter Team Relay medaled with a third-place finish and a time of 1:51.51. The Girls’ 4×400 Meter Team Relay secured second place, their best team finish of the afternoon, with a time of 4:27.55. Sophomore Azariah Reyes placed fifth in the Girls Discus Finals with a distance of 84-03.00, while sophomore Ahmoni Harris finished seventh with a distance of 81-05.00.

With their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship on display, Bainbridge athletes ensured the 15th Annual Larry Clark Track and Field Invitational was a standout event.
