Coinciding with the Rivertown Days festivities this Saturday, Mission22 will be holding its inaugural ruck march event, in partnership with the SWGA Veteran and Family Alliance. Mission22 is a veteran’s advocacy organization, aimed at helping combat veteran suicide.
“As a Mission22 ambassador, it is my responsibility, and honor, to develop a community/team/group to support veterans’ mental health and family wellness to combat veteran suicide (averaging 22 suicides a day nationally),” said Aaron Dasilva. “This will be in the form of a ruck march/hiking training club for veterans/law enforcement, first responders, and civilian supporters to participate. The goal is to provide a safe space, non-invasive community for these individuals as they heal and continue to stabilize their mental health and overall wellness.”
The march will leave from the local YMCA at 9:00 AM Saturday morning, and go to the Chamber of Commerce. The march will be led by Dasilva, those who have committed to being a part of Mission22, and the Decatur County JROTC.
Mission22 will also have a booth present at Rivertown Days. For more information about Mission22, visit their website at www.mission22.com, or contact Dasilva at aarond@premiergrouprealty.com.
