BHS girls’ track & field team take first place at Yellow Jacket Invitational

The Bainbridge girls track and field team took home first place at the Yellow Jacket Invitational held at Thomas County Central High School this past weekend by scoring 129.50 points a healthy 13.5 points lead to second place finisher TCC High. The scoring criteria are rewarded by 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for all events. 

Field Events:

In the girls’ shot put senior Z’Riah Solomon placed first worth ten points with a mark of 35-3.75. In the girls’ high jump BHS senior, Kyra Green placed second good for eight points with a mark of 4-8. Senior Denisha Chappel tied for fourth in the high jump with a mark of 4-6 and added 4.5 points for BHS.

Field Events:

In the girls, Discus Throw, sophomore Zy’Kiah Donaldson placed fourth with a mark of 81-8 and tailed five points for BHS towards the girls’ track and field team score. 

In the girls’ triple jump, junior Ashley Mosely finished fourth and added five points for the Bearcats with a mark of 32-8.50. In the girls’ 3,200-meter run sophomore Teagon Barefoot ran 15:16.62 placing second and adding eight points for the Bearcats. 

Track Team Events: 

In the girls’ 4×800 meter relay, Bainbridge High School’s A-team secured third place with a time of 12:33.57, earning six points. In the 4×200 meter relay, the A-team claimed fourth place with a time of 1:51.05, adding five points to their total. Later, the A-team achieved second place in the 4×100 meter relay, clocking a time of 52.00, which contributed another eight points. In the final event, the 4×400 meter relay, the A-team triumphed with a first-place finish and a time of 4:26.51, earning an additional ten points for the team score.

Track Individual Events: 

Junior Jakharia Howard secured second place in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 17.23 and earning eight points for BHS. In the girls’ 1,600-meter run, sophomore Teagan Barefoot claimed second place with a time of 7:01.80, while junior Enajiya Marcus followed in third with a time of 7:07.73, collectively contributing 14 points. Freshman Kyndae Hawkins impressed in the girls’ 400-meter dash, finishing second with a time of 1:01.42. She also placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.94. In the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, Howard took another second-place finish with a time of 50.82, while junior Ashley Mosely achieved third place, recording a time of 51.77. Senior Zamiyah Ofton delivered a strong performance in the girls’ 800-meter run, securing second place with a time of 2:50.07.
