Last Tuesday, Rotary held its weekly luncheon at the Kirbo Center. Rotary President Tommie Howell took the podium to address the community information that involved Mardi Gras and the Rivertown Days Event. He also discussed the education fund for the Rawle scholarship for graduating seniors and the upcoming fundraisers for the club. Afterward, Howell addressed Jimmy Phillips, an American Kennel Club Field Representative in the Coonhound Department. Phillips took to the podium to address the American Kennel Club and the coonhounds. The addressed coonhounds were the Black and Tan Coonhound, Modern Bluetick, American English Coonhound, American Leopard Hound, Hanover Hound, Redbone Coonhound, and the Treeing Walker Coonhound. Phillips talked about each coonhound based on their history, traits, appearance, and mannerisms. Then, he discussed the breeding aspect and the cost of a coonhound. He also addressed the judging contest of a coonhound and how each coonhound varies based on their appearance, traits, and mannerisms. Afterward, Phillips held a Q&A session with the Rotary members, who eagerly questioned Phillips on different coonhounds and their upkeep. Afterward, Howell returned to the podium to end the luncheon with the pledge of allegiance and the Rotary Creed.
