Thursday evening, the Decatur County Board of Education (DCBOE) held its monthly meeting. During the meeting, the board celebrated notable achievements, including Biscuit for the Best recipients, STAR students and teachers, and the winners of the Regional Technology Competition from Hutto Elementary School (HES), grades 3–5.

Keith Lyle called the meeting to order, followed by an invocation led by Winston Rollins. After the agenda and meeting minutes were approved, Ana Baty, Director of Public Relations for DCBOE, presented the Biscuits for the Best plaque to First National Bank employees for sponsoring the Teacher Appreciation Breakfast at HES. The Biscuits for the Best initiative, launched by Dr. Boyd English, aims to recognize and appreciate the hard work of teachers throughout the year. Baty commended First National Bank’s involvement: “Their support is a wonderful example of how our community comes together to celebrate the incredible work of our faculty and staff. In addition to purchasing the breakfast, First National Bank staff helped distribute it and greeted the Hutto team, making the morning even more special.”

Christopher Bryant, Principal at BHS, honored Kyle Kelley, a Family Nurse Practitioner at Amelia Medical Plaza for STAR TEACHER, and Yahir Ortiz, a BHS senior, for STAR students.
