John Stewart Collins was born November 3, 1957, in Quincy, FL, the son of Andy & Nell Mashburn Collins. He was a graduate of Bainbridge Christian School and earned credits from Bainbridge College and Tallahassee Community College. J.C. retired from Merita Bread Company as a route salesman. He was a member of Climax Methodist Church.

J.C. was really a child at heart. He loved the Peanuts character, Snoopy, and a PBJ sandwich with a cup of coffee. A little classic rock, baseball, and anything FSU were often the precursor to a good nap.

As a history buff, J.C. could tell you most anything about the Civil War period. He was always up for a trip, especially if the area was rich in history. Some of his favorite destinations included the beach, Virginia, St. Augustine, and a memorable once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy. Even when the miles created a distance between J.C. and his family, he never felt they were far from his heart.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Collins of Climax; his siblings, Cindy Phillips (Harold) of Crawfordville and Anderson Donald “Bubby” Collins, Jr. (Janet) of Tallahassee; and his niece & nephews, Julia O’Kane, Chris Akins, Ashley Akins, and Trey Collins. In addition to his parents, J.C. was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Darlene Phillips Collins.

Bryant Funeral Home, located at 105 N. Florida Street, is assisting the family with arrangements. (229-246-3321)
