Billy Glynn Dollar was born August 16, 1945, in Bainbridge, GA, the son of George & Iantha Barwick Dollar. He was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. For over forty years, Billy worked as a general contractor. He was Baptist by faith and hard shell by nature.

Every single person who ever met “Billy-Damn-Dollar” knew he could be difficult to deal with when actually he was a cream puff at his core. He would give you the shirt off his back, never counting the cost of helping others. BD$ was the most loyal friend you could have. He never left his wingman; even when outgunned or outnumbered, he fought to the end.

Billy drove a hard bargain when building homes, which probably attributed to his nickname in part. For him, everything had to be right and according to Billy’s way. He was quick to share his thoughts from politics to how you treat animals (and anything else that came to mind). He didn’t mince words and his dry sense of humor sometimes left you wondering, “Is he serious?”. Billy didn’t have a “don’t ask/don’t tell” policy; he had a “don’t ask if you don’t want to know” policy.

He loved the outdoors. In the spring, Billy put some hours on his mower and played in the dirt until dark. He was always tending & feeding animals. Spring Creek was his favorite fishing spot with Sherri, and the boat shop was his favorite place to tell the tales.

Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Sherri Davis Dollar; his children, Billy G. Dollar, Jr. (Jennifer) of Warner Robins, Sandi D. Homan of Eatonton, Kendyl M. Peak (Dustin) of Climax, and Rachel M. Kelly (Justin) of the Bethany Community; his grandchildren, Isabel, Thomas, Dallon, Emily, Isaline, Granger, Harrison, and Greydon; and a host of extended family including a band of brothers he claimed as kin. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Dollar.
