Last Wednesday, Magnolia Place Senior Living and Memory Care held a ribbon-cutting event at 1151 W. College Street.

Brande Strickland, President of Magnolia Place Senior Living and Memory Care, explained the history and expansion of Magnolia’s Cairo location. She stated, “Built-in 1998, Magnolia began as a personal care home for 35 independent residents. A small memory care unit was added in 2012; since then, it has grown significantly,” She continued. “In the fall of 2023, we approached members of the Bainbridge community about the need for memory care services and were met with enthusiastic support. With 35% of our memory care residents coming from Decatur and Seminole counties, we felt a responsibility to bring these services closer to home.”

When Riverside Personal Care Home in Bainbridge became available, Strickland said it was the perfect fit. After extensive renovations, she was thrilled to provide top-tier care in a beautiful, welcoming environment. Looking ahead, she plans to expand Magnolia Bainbridge (MPB) this summer, increasing our capacity from 24 to 50 residents.

Since opening in Bainbridge in January 2024, Magnolia’s core mission has been to provide stable, consistent, and professional support for seniors in our community who need extra help with daily living or require specialized memory care services.

Comprehensive Services for Seniors are tailored to support our residents’ unique needs, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. These include:

  • Nurse Care & Oversight: Medication management, blood pressure checks, glucose monitoring, and more, bridging the gap before skilled nursing becomes necessary.
  • Daily Living Assistance: Help with showering, oral hygiene, incontinence care, and minimal transferring.
  • Additional Amenities: Laundry service, salon service, housekeeping, meals, transportation to doctor’s appointments and off-site physical therapy, and engaging social activities.

A day at Magnolia ensures that each resident’s day is structured, supportive, and fulfilling. A typical day includes:

  • Morning routines such as oral hygiene, dressing, bed-making, and breakfast at 8 AM.
  • Morning exercise at 10 AM, followed by an activity.
  • Lunch at noon, medication distribution, and afternoon activities around 2 PM.
  • Porch sitting, social engagement, and dinner at 5 PM.
  • Evening routines, including getting ready for bed, with night medications provided.

Throughout the day, staff assist with bathroom needs and conduct hourly rounds to check on residents. Nighttime rounds are made hourly for all residents to ensure their comfort and safety.

The staff prioritizes physical, spiritual, emotional, and sensory activities to enrich our residents’ lives. Outings include lunches and ice cream trips, and we enjoy hosting friends from Willow Ridge. Residents also benefit from a lovely front porch, courtyard area, and access to a 16-passenger van for transportation.

Magnolia takes pride in supporting our staff through yearly vacations, bereavement time, health, disability, life insurance, and career advancement opportunities. We offer consistent 12-hour shift schedules to prevent burnout, ensuring employees have every other weekend off to plan appointments and trips.

Apartments are designed to feel like home, offering:

  • Private rooms with large bathrooms, walk-in showers, grab bars, and spacious closets.
  • Large windows for abundant natural light.
  • Common areas with a living room, dining room, cozy library sitting space, and wide, easy-to-navigate hallways.
  • A ranch-style layout, eliminating the need for stairs or elevators.

Magnolia prides itself on being a home-like environment led by experienced nurses. While we stay mindful of budgets and state regulations, our passion lies in caring for our residents. We collaborate with local physicians, home health services, and hospice providers to deliver holistic care.

Our commitment extends beyond our residents to their families. Communication is key, and families are welcome to enroll in our key fob program for 24/7 access or use an entry code to visit at any time.

We invite you to visit Magnolia and see the difference for yourself. Call or stop by anytime for a tour—we love to show off our home.
