Mr. Joel Frederick Greene, age 62, passed away March 31, 2025, at his home in Brinson, Georgia. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge, Georgia. Rev. Ellis Hardwick and Rev. Robert Crapps will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 6:00 – 7:00 pm, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox-Ivey Funeral Home.
Joel was born September 10, 1962, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to James E. Greene and Barbara Woodruff Greene. He was the second of 3 children and preceded in death by his father James E. Greene, brother James Judson Greene, sister-in-law Rhonda Greene, and uncle, Alf Greene. He is survived by his mother Barbara W. Greene, his brother Lane Greene, sister-in-law Teresa Greene, and nephews, Garret and Tessa Greene, special cousins, Sue and Alan Ingram, and many other close family and friends. He graduated from both Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Georgia Southern University. He worked for over 40 years at Alf’s Farm & Garden in Donaldsonville, GA as well as personal farming, produce production, and cattle. Joel had a great love for family, people, and animals of all types. He had a deep love of history and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a long-standing member of the Iron City Methodist Church, the Seminole County Chapter of the Young Farmers, and was awarded Seminole County Agricultural Person of the year in 2020.
He was a man of few words but a heart of pure gold; always willing to help others with as little recognition as possible.
