The sun had barely crested the horizon when the boats roared to life at the Bass Cats Championship Blast-Off Tournament. The high school and junior anglers, fueled by excitement and determination, launched onto the water, each hoping to land the winning catch.

In the high school division, Hayden Reynolds wasted no time proving his dominance. With a total haul of 10.16 pounds, his biggest catch—a massive 5.08-pound bass—solidified his first-place victory. Just behind him, Brennan Enfinger fought hard, weighing in at 10.03 pounds, only a fraction away from the top spot. Tyler Godwin finished in third place with 8.90 pounds of bass, Caleb Logue had 8.28 pounds, and Drake Walls rounded out the top five with solid performances, finishing with 7.63 pounds of bass.

Meanwhile, in the middle school division, Jack Kennedy secured first place with an impressive 8.76-pound total. John Wesley Alderman followed with 5.96 pounds, and Layken Shockley claimed third with 4.80 pounds. Each competitor battled shifting conditions, knowing that one perfect cast could change the tournament’s course.

As the final weigh-ins concluded, cheers erupted along the shore. Some walked away victorious, others hungry for redemption, but all left with memories of a thrilling competition. For these young anglers, the Bass Cats Championship was more than a tournament—it was a test of skill, patience, and heart.

Godwin and Gunner Love reeled in a big win by qualifying for the state championship for the Georgia BASS Nation High School Fishing. With Lake Okeechobee experiencing low water levels, the Bassmaster Junior National Championship has been rescheduled to take place at the Harris Chain of Lakes, launching from Venetian Gardens Ski Beach. The dates, June 7-8, remain unchanged.
