Bainbridge football fans come together on Aug. 1 beginning at 6:30 p.m. for Bearcat Fan Day, an event for the whole community. It’s a celebration of Bearcat spirit, incorporating creative themes and the upcoming season at Centennial Field. For Coach Jay Walls, it’s a chance to showcase the team’s progress and connect with the people who support them.
“It’s big for the kids, it’s big for the coaches, it’s big for the parents, the fans, the community,” Walls said. “Everybody wants to see how the Bearcats are doing and just get a look at them.”
The event centers around an inner-squad scrimmage that serves as a valuable opportunity to assess the team’s evolution this offseason, while intentionally withholding tactical details to avoid revealing game-day strategies.

“It’s controlled and you’re not showing everything,” Walls noted. “But certainly, it’s something important. We want to go over there and look sharp—we want to block and tackle well, we want to execute.”
Fan Day brings the community together, not only to celebrate but to contribute—donating laundry detergent to support the Bearcats behind the scenes.
“We want to take donations of laundry detergent,” Walls said. “That’s kind of the admission fee. Please bring and donate—powder or liquid, a big container.”
They call it the “Laundry Soap Game” for a reason—it’s not just a scrimmage, it’s a reflection of Bainbridge’s close-knit roots, where football brings folks out, families cheer loudly, and commitment runs deeper than the scoreboard.
“If we can do that early on in an inner-squad scrimmage, ” Walls said. “Then we’re headed in the right direction.”
Fan Appreciation Day sets the stage for a thrilling start to Bearcat football, as Bainbridge opens the season with two tough road tests against Coffee, in Douglas, and Cook, in Adel, before lighting up Centennial Field for their home opener against Ware County on Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
