Three Cairo, Ga., men have been charged in the alleged robbery of a Bainbridge College student on March 14, according to Bainbridge Public Safety officers.

The three men were arrested Thursday in Cairo and booked into the Decatur County Jail, BPS Investigator Chris Jordan said. The three men, each of whom are charged with robbery and false imprisonment, are David Kesheem Peterson, 21; Gregory Lamar Hatcher, 20; and Laderance Vonkise Fuller, 21, all of Cairo.

Jordan said the robbery victim had classes with at least two of the suspects, including Peterson, but did not know them personally. BPS Officer Rusty Day, who responded to the victim’s initial 911 call, had talked with a BC professor and several students to get some details about the suspects.

“Information from the victim and other evidence we developed led to us identifying the suspects,” Jordan said Friday.

The robbery reportedly happened on the evening of March 14, after the victim got out of class. The victim accepted a ride home from a classmate after the two had chatted earlier in the day. Two other men, one of whom was known to the victim, also rode in the car.

After stopping at a convenience store and driving around in the neighborhood known as “The Pear Orchard,” northeast of Calhoun Street, the driver turned onto Back Street and stopped, according to the incident report.

The car’s front-seat passenger reportedly opened the door next to where the victim was sitting, forcibly held him down and took his money. The victim then took off running, because he thought the robber was reaching underneath a seat to get a weapon.
