Graveside services for Patrick Houston “P.H.” Clayton, 79, of Fort Gaines, Ga., will be held Wednesday, March 16, at 2 p.m. at New Park Cemetery in Fort Gaines with the Rev. Mickael Whitt officiating.
Mr. Clayton was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Seminole County, Ga., son of the late Jesse Truman Clayton and the late Rhoda King Freeman. He died March 14, 2011, at his residence.
He was a retired A/C inspector at Fort Rucker with 35 years of service, a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the International Association of Machinists, a member of Masonic Lodge 115 in Colquitt and a Baptist.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Steven Clayton; a daughter, Cynthia Clayton Hodnett, and two sisters, Lois C. Cloud and Betty Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Knight Clayton of Fort Gaines; a son, Donald Keith and his wife, Alexandria Clayton of Ashville, N.C.; a daughter, Melanie Anita Clayton McKnight and her husband, Vernon, of Newton, Ala.; and a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Clayton of Ashford, Ala.; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Lunsford Funeral Home of Cuthbert is in charge of the arrangements.
