Thursday morning, July 26, the Climax recycling center, located on the corner of Broad and Main streets, was reinstalled with a fresh new green look.

Suzanne Brandt, director of Keep America Beautiful in Decatur County, said periodically that the recycling centers throughout the county and city of Bainbridge are checked for maintenance. If needed, they are given an overhaul, with KAB supplying the materials for repairs, and the Decatur County Public Works department supplying the labor.

After checking the Climax station, she said it was time to give the Climax center a new face lift. On hand to reinstall the freshly painted revitalized center Thursday morning was County Public Works Superintendent Dennis Medley, Public Works Sign Foreman Tony Toole, Public Works Mechanic Rick Kelly, Decatur County Commissioner David “Butch” Mosely, Climax Mayor Charles Hadsock, and Brandt.

Hadsock said he was proud of the recycling efforts throughout the Climax community. Mosely said he was pleased that Climax had the opportunity to have the recycle trailer.

“This provides the opportunity to recycle, which is good for everyone,” he said.

Brandt said that Climax is the top recycler among all of the county recycling centers, with the exception of those in Bainbridge. The Climax center has collected more than the centers in Attapulgus, Faceville and Brinson, Brandt said.

She said that from June 31, 2011, through June of this year, Climax had collected 26,493 pounds of recyclable materials, with Faceville coming in with 15,710 pounds. She thanked the citizens for doing this well, and encouraged them to do even more to recycle.
