Funeral services for Erma L. Hines Gaines, 66, of Bainbridge, will be held at Mt. Ararat Primitive Baptist Church, in Attapulgus, Ga., on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Simon Simmons Jr. officiating and Pastor Harry Chaney presiding. Interment will follow at Conyers Cemetery in Climax.
Emma Lee Hines Gaines was born July 22, 1945, in Decatur County to the late Earnest Hines Sr. and Julia Johnson Hines. She died July 28, 2012, at the residence of her daughter in Havana, Fla.
She attended Attapulgus Mt. Moriah High School and confessed Christ at an early age, joining with the Mt. Ararat Primitive Baptist Church of Attapulgus. She was married to Mr. Bulford Gaines. She starated her career in food services at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital and Manor and had an extensive career for 35 years or more. Throughout her career, she mentored many young ladies and young men.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tony Thomas, a sister, Ethel Gardner, and brothers, Eugene Hines and Wilbert Hines.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Washington (Lones) of Climax, Maritta Harrison of Havana, Fla.; a son, Cedric Hines of Atlanta, Ga.; her mother, Julia J. Hines of Attapulgus; seven grandchildren, all of Climax; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
