Soup Kitchen welcomes all diners

SERVING A PORTION of chicken and rice, is Patricia Anderson, who has made the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen her personal Christian mission.
There was no lack of volunteer help at the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen Thursday evening. Patricia Anderson, director of the program, expressed her thankfulness and delight for all those who have responded with donations and manpower.
She and her crew of helpers welcomed the public as they dished out chicken and rice, creamed corn, cupcakes and drinks — free to all who wanted to come and eat.
Anderson, who has held soup kitchens off and on in various locations previously, has started a new venture that will be held each Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the white building behind the old Agricultural Extension Office off Vada Road. The menu will vary each week.
Anderson says all are welcome to come eat in or carry out. She and her helpers will be there next Thursday, Sept. 6.
