Lady Cats lose to Central, Crisp

Coach Eugene Singletary’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team dropped a 3-2 Region 1-AAAAA game at Thomas County Central on Thursday, concluding the week with three straight setbacks.
On Wednesday, the Lady Cats dropped an 11-1, 6-1 home double header to the Crisp County High School Lady Cougars.
The Lady Cats took a 1-0 lead over Central in the top of the fourth inning. Second baseman Caitlin Cato led off the inning with a single, moved up to second on a passed ball and scored on a one-out single by pitcher Brooke Bates.
The Lady Yellow Jackets countered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, to go up 3-1. The Lady Cats scored their final run in the top of the sixth, when Laura Griner walked, stole second and came in on an error.
The Lady Cougars from Cordele took an 8-0 lead in the second inning of the first game on Wednesday. An error, two singles and a walk ignited the uprising.
The Lady Cats scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth. Centerfielder Anna Barber tripled to open the inning, and scored when catcher Lindsey Griner grounded out from short to first.
The Lady Cats kept the second game close early. After Crisp County took a 2-0 lead on two errors, a stolen base and a double, the Lady Cats scored a run in the bottom of the second to cut it to 2-1.
Third baseman Laura Griner singled to open the inning, moved up to second when shortstop Brooke Bates was hit by a pitch and scored when left fielder Maegan Harrison hit an RBI double.
