The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the stabbing death of a local man early Sunday morning, Sheriff Wiley Griffin said.
The stabbing happened at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday at the Bainbridge Shrine Club off U.S. 84 East, according to Sheriff’s Investigator Redell Walton, who is leading the investigation.
The victim, 27-year-old Ervin Flanders Jr. of Decatur County, was attending a party at the Shrine Club when a fight broke out inside, Sheriff Griffin said. The fight escalated and moved outside the Shrine Club, where Flanders was stabbed multiple times with a knife or other sharp object.
Emergency Medical Service personnel responded and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Flanders at the scene and en route to Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge, where Flanders was later pronounced dead, the Sheriff said.
The suspect in the stabbing is Dorian Goss, 22, of Bainbridge, Captain Chip Nix, chief investigator at the Sheriff’s Office said Monday morning. Reward money is being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to Goss’ arrest, Nix said.
Allegedly, Flanders and Goss—who knew each other and had mutual friends—were upset with each other over a woman that both men had dated at different times, according to Sheriff’s Office investigators.
Goss may have left the Shrine Club in a white car with another black male with dreadlocks. Nix said. Deputies also want to find out who that was and where the white car Goss left in is located now.

Sheriff’s deputies also want to talk with Goss’ mother, Kimberly Goss, who also goes by the names Nikki Burke or Kimberly Burke, according to Nix.
The Sheriff’s Office crime scene investigators and other deputies were at the Shrine Club until approximately 7 a.m. Sunday conducting an investigation, Sheriff Griffin said.
Bainbridge Public Safety officers, who routinely patrol along part of U.S. 84 East, also responded to 911 calls after the stabbing and helped with CPR, the Sheriff said.
According to previous published arrest reports, Dorian Goss was arrested for aggravated assault in November 2010 (BPS), for battery in June 2011 (SO) and for a probation violation in June 2011 (BPS).
