Nine noteworthy Decatur County women were honored Thursday morning, at the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce’s monthly breakfast.

The women were the “2012 Women to Watch,” who were featured in the Winter 2012 edition of the Bainbridge Living magazine. That magazine included photographs and stories on each of the nine women, who were chosen based on their community service, enthusiasm and hard work.

Each of the women received a mounted-and-laminated copy of their magazine article, following the completion of the breakfast at the headquarters of Southwest Georgia Farm Credit. Southwest Georgia Farm Credit and Bainbridge Living are partners in the “Women to Watch” effort, which began two years ago.

“These are women who lead by example, who have a heartfelt desire to make our community the best it can be, and who challenge the status quo,” said Richard Horn, chief credit officer at Southwest Georgia Farm Credit. “You could call them dynamos, or overachievers — I’m just glad that we call them ‘ours.’ Decatur County might be a very different place without them.”

The nine women who were honored Thursday were:

• Kim Walden — Director of membership and communications at the Chamber of Commerce.

• Charlotte Howard — Adviser for the CATS for Youth program at Bainbridge High School.

• Missy Rollins — Serves as CEO of the Friendship House of Jesus.

• Marjorie Mayfield — Chairman of the board of directors for the Bainbridge-Decatur County United Way.

• Vonda Hubbard — Bainbridge High School director of Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE).

• Liz Croley — Serves as the Sheriff’s Captain for the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, and works with victims of crimes, especially child victims.

• Helen Sanders — Founded the Bainbridge Oncology Support Team and has served on several community boards.

• Katie Marzolf — Owner and CEO of HCAP Consultants, LLC, in Bainbridge, and has served on several community boards.

• Allison Harrell — Social worker for the Decatur County Schools, and serves as board chairman for Decatur County Family Connection.

“These women all share a common characteristic,” said Bainbridge Living publisher Jeff Findley. “They have been blessed with incredible spirit — a desire to spend their time making our home town the best place it can be.”

The 2013 Women to Watch will be featured in the Winter 2013 edition of Bainbridge Living.
