A Decatur County woman was injured after another vehicle reportedly knocked her pickup truck into a utility pole at Five Points in Bainbridge on Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened at 1:21 p.m. on College Street, between Flowers by Cooper and Family Bank.
Leslie Lashea Brock, of 167 Aryola Drive, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on College Street.
According to a Public Safety accident report, another vehicle struck Brock’s truck from behind, causing her pickup truck to strike the utility pole. The other vehicle then took off, although no description of it was included in the accident report.
The accident caused a live, 120-volt ground wire to fall on the right-of-way in front of Family Bank, BPS Fire Prevention Major Doyle Welch said. BPS officers and Emergency Medical Service personnel tended to Brock, while the area immediately around the downed power line was sealed off to prevent any other vehicles from passing by it.
Brock, who according to BPS had visible but non life-threatening injuries, was taken to Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle.
Despite the utility pole being damaged, power was still on at the bank and the flower shop after the accident.
A Georgia Power crew arrived to turn off electricity going to the downed line and used a boom truck to repair the damaged pole.
