The Decatur County Fall Fair, held last Tuesday through Saturday, was another success for the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce, event organizers said.

Although Chamber officials were still tabulating the proceeds from this year’s fair, it appears to have been “bigger” than last year, said Kim Walden, Chamber membership and communications director.

According to preliminary figures from fair organizers, there were approximately 8,000 visitors who came through the gates during the five days of the fair. Saturday was by far the biggest single-day gate attendance, with about 3,000 visitors.

“We were fortunate to have some great weather this year and there were definitely a lot of people with smiles on their faces,” Walden said.

Jeff Findley, a member of the Chamber’s executive committee, said he agreed that more people seemed to have come out to the fairgrounds, despite the fact that Halloween fell on one of the nights the fair was going on.

Chamber officials credited the many volunteers and promotional efforts that helped make the fair a success.

“We’ve been holding the fair for many years, and the community has always been very supportive of it as a fundraiser for the Chamber of Commerce,” Walden said.
