Saturday’s 38th annual Swine Time Festival in Climax will feature competitions in events ranging from hog calling, to chitterling eating, to greasy pig chasing to corn shucking.

There will also be a best dressed pig contest. The Climax Sew and Sew Quilters are selling tickets on a mix colored quilt. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

A Sew and Sew Quilters log cabin pattern quilt will be auctioned as well.
They will also have a quilt demonstration for visitors at the depot on the Swine Time grounds.

The Climax Community Club president is Phillip Dodson, the vice president is Dr. David C. “Butch” Mosely, the secretary is Barbara Sapp and the treasurer is Virginia Wooten. Chip Wray and Barbara Sapp are co-chairmen of the Swine Time Festival.

The annual Swine Time Parade, which gets under way at 10 a.m., will feature U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop and the award-winning Bainbridge High School Marching Bearcat Band, along with floats and antique cars.

The parade will begin on Salem Church Road, proceed through downtown Climax and end at the Swine Time Grounds on New Street.

Following the parade, Climax Mayor Charles Hadsock will welcome guests on the dignitaries’ platform.

Contests on the special events stage will get under way at 11 a.m. Master of ceremonies will be Swine Time publicity chairman Carlton Eakin.

There will be numerous commercial and food booths on the Swine Time grounds.
