James Edward “Bub” Morris, 87, of Bainbridge, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at Memorial Manor Nursing Home in Bainbridge.

The funeral was held Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Danny Shepard officiating, and concluded at the chapel. Interment was in Oak City Cemetery, with the Baraca Sunday School Class as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Morris was born Feb. 24, 1925 in Bainbridge, the son of Woodfin “Woody” Franklin Morris and Clifford Irene Davis Morris. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1943. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served as a corporal in World War II. Mr. Morris was an electrician before becoming a train conductor, from where he retired after 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Baraca Sunday School Class, and was the Head Guru of the Retiree Club.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Colleen Bazzell Morris; his brother, Frank Morris; and his sister; Marian Morris Parramore.

Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Morris Shattles and her husband, Jeff, of Donalsonville, Ga. and Susan Morris Boyd and her husband, Robert, of Bainbridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
