The Decatur County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to remove the “interim” tag from Interim County Administrator Gary Breedlove’s title.

Breedlove is now technically the full-time administrator, which means he will remain in the position as long as the county commission continues to approve of his job performance.

The change in title will not result in any increase in pay. Breedlove told the county commissioners that he does not want to receive any salary increase until the county’s employees are able to recieve raises again. He is paid at a rate of $7,000 per month.

Breedlove was first named the interim county administrator on March 13, replacing former County Administrator Tom Patton after his Feb. 28 resignation. Breedlove is a retired U.S. Air Force colonel and previously served as the director of the Junior ROTC program at Bainbridge High School.

In June 2012, the county voted to unanimously keep Breedlove as the interim administrator through June 2013. However, at the start of Tuesday’s board meeting, Commissioner Dr. David C. “Butch” Mosely made a motion to amend the meeting’s agenda to discuss removing the interim label.

“I have one item that I would like to place on the agenda,” Mosely said. “I would like for the commission to consider removing the interim title from Col. Breedlove and making him the county administrator with an additional one year on his contract.”

During the later discussion, Mosely made the motion to remove the interim label, and his motion was seconded by Commissioner Frank Loeffler. The decision to make Breedlove the permanent county administrator was unanimous.

Also Tuesday, the board voted unanimously to appoint Brown Moseley as the county’s attorney, and Beverly King as the county clerk, for another year.
