The Bainbridge High School varsity baseball team were shut out in both games of a doubleheader the Bearcats hosted against Hardaway High School, of Columbus, Ga., this past Friday.

Bainbridge lost to the Hawks 5-0 in Game 1 and 4-0 in Game 2.

In Game 1, the Bearcats finished with five hits, but were unable to muster any runs.

“We left men on base every inning, including one inning where we left the bases loaded,” Bainbridge coach Brian McCorkle said. “That was probably the difference in Game 1.”

Offensively for the Bearcats, Tate Lambert singled and doubled. Matt Burke, Michael Faircloth and Grant McDonald each had a single.

Bainbridge loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth inning, but the Bearcats’ last batter striked out to end the rally.

Hardaway scored two runs in the third inning, one in the fifth and two in the seventh.

In Game 2, Hardaway’s Trevon Dorsey struck out 12 Bearcat batters and gave up just two hits over seven innings in his complete game win.

The Hawks’ offense was sparked by Blake Meadows and Josh Anthony, who teamed up for five hits and two RBIs.

Hardaway’s big inning was in the third, when they scored three runs on a two-run double by Brandon Bynam and an RBI triple by Josh Anthony.

Bainbridge was scheduled to play at Lincoln on Tuesday. The Bearcats will stay on the road Friday, to play a doubleheader at Lee County, with Game 1 scheduled for 5 p.m.
