The Bainbridge High School varsity baseball team made the most of a Thursday night double-header against Northside-Columbus, winning both games against the region foe.

The Bearcats won the first game against Northside 7-6, and won the second game 7-2.

This past Tuesday, the Bearcats defeated the Liberty County Bulldogs 6-2 at home.

The Bearcats have now won five straight games and have evened their record to 12-12.

 

Game 1: Bainbridge 7, Northside 6

After the Patriots scored two runs in the top of the second, the Bearcats rallied in the bottom of the inning to go up 4-2.

Northside scored three more runs in the third and one in the fourth, but the Bearcats countered with two runs in the third and one in the fourth, to take a lead that would hold the rest of the way.

Offensive leaders for the Bearcats were Blake Voyles, who had a double and two singles, and Ben Day, who had three singles. Voyles and Jackson Jones each had two RBIs. Grant McDonald had a triple and an RBI.

Shawon Gardner was hit by a pitch and had an RBI.

Bainbridge’s Rion Murrah pitched a complete game victory, tallying seven strikeouts. He threw 133 pitches, 82 for strikes.

 

Game 2: Bainbridge 7, Northside 2

Bainbridge carved out a big 7-0 lead in the first two innings of Game 2, and Northside was only able to counter with just two runs in the third inning.

Tate Lambert got a complete-game win for the Bearcats and struck out eight Patriots batters. Lambert also helped his own cause with three singles.

Blake Voyles had a double, two hits, reached on a walk, and batted in two runs. Jones had two RBIs, while Day had two hits and one RBI. Gardner had a stolen base.

 

Bainbridge 6, Liberty County 2

Matt Burke got the win against Liberty County, with Jake Goodson, Jordan Davis and Murrah coming on in relief. Altogether, the four Bearcat pitchers notched 14 strikeouts.

Liberty County scored runs in the second and third innings to take a 2-1 lead, but four Bearcat runners came home in the bottom of the fourth to give Bainbridge a firm lead. Bainbridge added its sixth run in the fifth.

The offensive attack against the Bulldogs was evenly balanced, with five players getting an RBI. Jones had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Gardner and Day both had doubles, while Goodson and McDonald each had a stolen base.

Next Tuesday, the Bearcats host Lee County in Bainbridge at 6 p.m. On Thursday, they will host non-region opponent Tift County at 6 p.m., at the BHS Diamonds.
