Marijane Lane Scarborough, 73, of Iron City, Ga., passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, in LaGrange, Ga.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at First Baptist Church, in Donalsonville, Ga., with the Rev. Tommy Dobbins officiating. Interment followed at Friendship Memory Gardens, with Lanier Lane, Alan Pearce, Doug Lane, Jeff Croom, John Gray, Mark Burkett, Chris Thomas and Terry Shamblin serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the board of directors of Seminole County Farm Bureau.

Mrs. Scarborough was born Feb. 6, 1940, in Brinson, the daughter of Thomas Clay Lane and Lila Russell Lane. She was a graduate of Seminole County High School, Class of 1956, received an associate’s degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and was a farmer. Mrs. Scarborough was a member of First Baptist Church and the Donalsonville Garden Club. She had served as president of the Seminole County Farm Bureau since 1985, and served on the Seminole County DFACS Board, the NRCS Soil and Water Board, and the Georgia FSA Board. She was selected Mother of the Year by the Seminole County Junior Woman’s Club.

Mrs. Scarborough was preceded in death by her first husband, Marcus Ray Spooner; her grandson, Buck Spooner; and her brothers, Clay Lane Jr., Billy Lane, and Dave Lane.

Survivors include her husband, Ed Scarborough of Iron City; her son, Mark Spooner and his wife, Lisa, of Donalsonville; her daughters, Ellen Spooner King and her husband, Ed, of Brinson, Lisa Joy Spooner Conoly and her husband, Mike, of Iron City, Melissa Spooner Brock and her husband, Dee, of Bainbridge, and Stacy Scarborough Sauls and her husband, Brian, of Villa Rica, Ga.; her sisters, Merle Lane Davis of Blakely, Ga., Joy A. Lane of Iron City, and Laura Pearce Easom of Jakin, Ga.; her grandchildren, Marcus King, Russell King, Ray Spooner, Bailey Brock, Caden Brock, Micah Conoly, Merredith Conoly, Marlow Steed and Braden Sauls; and many nieces and nephews.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
