A Bainbridge man died in a car crash in Doughtery County, Ga., on Monday night, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
William Curtis Malone, 54, was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle at about 8:15 p.m. Monday on Tarva Road, near the border between Doughtery and Baker counties. The accident site is located approximately 45 miles northeast of Bainbridge.
According to the GSP’s post in Albany, Ga., Malone was headed south on Tarva Road in a Mini Cooper, while at the same time, Kimberly McGie of Newton, Ga., was headed north in a Chevrolet Malibu.
For some undetermined reason, Malone’s vehicle crossed over the road’s center line into the northbound lane. McGie applied her car’s brakes and attempted to turn out of the way, but the two cars collided. The Malibu overturned multiple times; both vehicles were severely damaged.
Malone passed away at the scene of the wreck, while McGie was taken to Phobe Putney Hospital in Albany with serious injuries.
Malone was an instructor of respiratory care at Darton College in Albany, according to the college’s web site. Malone had been a teacher there since 2007. He held an associate of science degree from Darton and a bachelor’s of business administration from Valdosta State University.
