Two men were arrested early Saturday after Bainbridge Public Safety officers broke up a fight near the Sims Street Apartments.

At about 1:22 a.m. Saturday, BPS officers responded to 108 N. Sims Street in reference to several people fighting with weapons, according to a BPS incident report.

As Cpl. Pat Bryant arrived at the intersection of Broughton and Sims streets, he observed several people running toward Water Street and also noted a large crowd between two of the apartment buildings.

Bryant made contact with Paxton Amilca, 22, of 204 Edgewood Drive, Bainbridge, who was unsteady on his feet and bleeding from his left arm. Amilca refused medical treatment and stated he had been attacked by a crowd.

BPS Officer Terry Pait found a male lying in the alley betwen Broughton Street and Water Streets with two stab wounds to his left side. Officer Pait relayed a description of a possible suspect in the stabbing to Bryant.

Bryant found a man matching the description of the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Christopher Lobay Brooks, of 1211 E. Sharpe St., sitting on a porch outside one of the apartments.

Cpl. Bryant searched Brooks’ person and found a clear plastic bag with suspected marijuana in his pants. Brooks was arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Amilca was arrested after it was discovered he had a warrant for his arrest due to a probation violation.

BPS Investigator Chip Nix responded to the scene but advised that neither Brooks or the stabbing victim wanted to talk to the investigator or press charges.

Brooks was released on a bail bond, while Amilca was transferred to the Pelham City Jail.
