The Bainbridge High School Bearcats varsity football team will have a preview of their 2013 season when they play the Chamblee Bulldogs in a scrimmage this Friday night at Centennial Field.
Admission to the scrimmage will be $5.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m., which will be the kickoff time for all home games this season.
Chamblee Charter High School is located in DeKalb County in metropolitan Atlanta. They compete in Georgia Class AAAA, one level below Bainbridge, who compete in Class AAAAA.
Two years ago, Chamblee’s record was 4-6, but they improved to 8-2 last season.
In the two teams’ first meeting—the scrimmage that kicked off the 2012 season—Bainbridge won 38-11.
In that game, the Bearcats were led by senior running back Damian Bouie, who had two touchdown runs, of 46 yards and 43 yards, respectively. The Bearcats led 25-3 at halftime.
Terry Lewis returned the second-half kickoff 91 yards to the Chamblee 1, before getting tripped up. Howver, Lewis ran in for the touchdown on the next play.
This season sees several new changes for Bearcat football. New Head Coach Jeff Littleton brings a more balanced offensive scheme, as opposed to the run-heavy veer offense the Bearcats have used in the past.
Senior quarterback Preston Norris is expected to start the game for the ‘Cats.
