Ashley Johnson has been named managing editor of The Post-Searchlight, Bainbridge Living magazine, Rifle & Rod magazine, and the publications’ associated websites. She will begin work in Bainbridge on Tuesday.
Johnson, 23, comes to Bainbridge from The Selma Times-Journal in Selma, Ala., where she spent the last 18 months as a staff reporter and writer. She replaces Justin Schuver, who left The Post-Searchlight earlier this month to assume the publisher’s position at the Atmore Advance in Atmore, Al.
The Post-Searchlight, The Selma Times-Journal, and The Atmore Advance are all part the Boone Newspapers, Inc. organization of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
“I cannot wait to become part of the Bainbridge community—taste your barbecue, worship in your churches, and tell of the stories of Bainbridge and Decatur County through The Post-Searchlight and our magazines,” said Johnson.
Johnson is a native of Kennesaw and is a graduate of The University of Alabama where she earned a journalism degree and a minor in art history. While at Alabama, Johnson worked for the Tuscaloosa News and covered the deadly tornado outbreak in Tuscaloosa in April of 2011.
“I am thrilled to have Ashley join our team at The Post-Searchlight,” said Jeff Findley, publisher of The Post-Searchlight and president of Bainbridge Media, LLC. “She is a very talented, driven, and ambitious individual who will contribute greatly as we strive to offer a timely, accurate, and fair report of the happenings of Bainbridge and Decatur County.”
