The Bainbridge High School varsity and JV softball teams were eager to play a game after having two games rained out last week, but unfortunately, Wednesday’s game was shortened by rain.
The JV Lady Bearcats lost to the Crisp County Lady Cougars 5-1, only managing to play three innings a side before bad weather ended the game.
Freshman pitcher Taylor Swanner had a fair outing for the Bearcats, throwing 59 strikes and only 25 balls.
Junior Haley Thompson had the Lady Bearcats’ sole RBI. Tori Sprenkle had a hit and a stolen base.
The varsity Lady Bearcats, who also had a game cancelled because of rain last week, fell 9-1 to Crisp County.
Caitlyn Dunlap was walked twice in the game. Junior Brooke Bates pitched five and two-thirds innings for BHS, recording two strikeoouts. Bates also had an RBI.
Anna Barber and Shea Williams also had hits for BHS.
The Lady Bearcats scored their run in the first, but Crisp had a big bottom of the second, scoring five runs and adding two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
