Lady Cats lose in Columbus

The Bainbridge High School varsity softball team lost a close 3-2 game against Northside-Columbus High in Columbus, Ga., this past Friday.
The loss came despite the Lady Bearcats out-hitting the Lady Patriots 10 hits to four.
Northside-Columbus got on the scoreboard in the third inning, with a run scoring on an error, one of four committed by BHS on the day. The Lady Patriots added two more runs in the fifth.
The Lady Bearcats scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally fell short.
Lady Cat Morgan Phillips was hot at the plate, singling in each of the third, fifth and seventh innings.
Maegan Harrison had two hits, including an RBI double. Laura Griner also had two hits.
Pitcher Brooke bates pitched a complete game, striking out seven batters and allowing only four hits and three walks over seven innings.
The Lady Bearcats varsity team were to host Thomasville in a non-region game on Tuesday afternoon.
