Grace Christian volleyball team win first four matches

The Grace Christian Academy varsity volleyball team has won their first four games of the season and are also 1-0 in GISA Region 3-AA.
On Thursday, Grace’s Lady Cougars defeated Ashford Academy (Ala.) three sets to none (25-9, 25-11, 25-14). Kelsey Harrell and Melissa Mills had 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Mills had 10 ace serves, while Harrell recorded seven digs and Merrianna Parker contributed 24 assists. Sarah Castoro had a 90 percent in-play serve.
Against region opponent Valwood School of Valdosta on August 22, the Lady Cougars also dominated 3 matches to none (25-9, 25-12, 27-25). Mills had eight kills, seven digs, and seven ace serves. Kendi Castoro had six digs. Kaitlyn Holcombe had a 90 percent in-play serve, while Parker recorded 18 assists.
Against Stratford Academy of Macon, Ga., on August 23, Grace won three matches to none (25-9, 25-10, 25-14). Mills had seven kills while Harrell notched six kills and 11 ace serves. Harrell also had 31 of 32 serves in play. Parker pitched in with 17 assists.
Against tough foe RF Munroe of Mount Pleasant, Fla., on August 27, the Lady Cougars won 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 27-16). Harrell had 14 kills, Kendi Castoro had 10 digs and Mills had eight ace serves. Parker had a 100 serve percentage and 25 assists. The varsity and JV teams’ next home matches will be Sept. 13 vs. Lafayette Christian at Perry Gymnasium.
