After a tough loss in Cairo last week, the Bainbridge High School Bearcats return to Centennial Field this Friday night to take on the Early County High School Bobcats. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m.

Early County is coming off a 27-0 win against neighbor Miller County and stands 1-1 on the season. The Bearcats are also 1-1 on the young season.

Bainbridge Head Coach Jeff Littleton said Early County is be a formidable opponent that is very well-coached.

“Coach Wolff does a great job with his team. They are very well coached and play with a lot of discipline,” said Littleton.

Early County Head Coach Trey Wolff enters his 13th year at the helm of the Bobcats.

“They still run the Wing T offense, although they seem to be doing things slightly different from last year. The are running some of the same plays out of a slightly different formations,” Littleton said. “They have good size up front on both sides of the ball and have real threats at running back and wide receiver.”

Senior Shacquwan Mills, a 6 foot, four inches tall wide receiver, and junior running back Diondre Williams are key players on the Early County offense. Sophomore quarterback Miles Norman is a first-year starter.

Littleton said that the Bearcats have responded well this week in practice after the 6-0 loss to rival Cairo last week.

“We just have to keep grinding, keep working hard, and put ourselves in a position to win the ball game,” explained Littleton. “I am pleased at how our players have responded this week coming off a tough situation.”

“I tell our kids all the time, we can control our attitude and effort. Those are the things we can control and the things that we worry about. We try not to worry about things we cannot control or what has happened in the past,” Littleton continued.
