The eighth grade Lady Cats weren’t able to keep up with the Seminole County Lady Indians Thursday and dropped a 30-24 decision at the Coliseum.
“They missed a lot of shots and had a lot of turnovers,” Lady Cats coach Dorothy Pierce said.
The last quarter of the game was an uphill battle for the team as they tried to catch up with the Lady Indians while preventing them from putting any more points on the board. The Lady Cats came close, but ultimately allowed too many game-costing turnovers.
Jasmine Rainey was the scoring leader for the Lady Cats with eight points. Behind her was Mycha Harris with five points. LaDeshia Williams of the Lady Indians was the scoring leader for the game, pouring in 17 points.
I was pleased with the hustle of my team,” Pierce said. “However, we have to be more consistent in playing defense and making shots. We will continue to work on fundamentals, defense and breaking the press.”
The Lady Cats have three more games this season.
They will travel to Donalsonville next Monday for a rematch against Seminole County at 4:30 p.m.
