Juanita Poitevint Cooper

Funeral services for Juanita Poitevint Cooper, 75, of Pelham, Ga., are at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Macedonia Baptist Church, Pelham. Rev. David Pickering and Rev. Mike Nichols will officiate. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Church Cemetery. Mrs. Cooper passed away at Archbold Medical Center, Thomasville, on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014.
Active pallbearers will be Josh Dollar, Ronnie Thompson, Morris Anderson, Justin Barrett, Josh Barrett and Caylor Outz.
Mrs. Cooper was born on April 23, 1938, in Hopeful, Ga., to the late Bobby and Mary Carroll Poitevint. On March 6, 1960, she married Thomas Julian “Tommy” Cooper, who preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 2011. Mrs. Cooper and her husband, Tommy, owned and operated T & J Grocery Store for many years. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Pelham.
Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Darrell Arrington of Thomasville, Jenny and Guy Dollar of Cairo, Shana Califf of Thomasville; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Kay K. Cooper of Whigham, Elam and Debbie Cooper of Cairo; grandchildren, Hank, Gracie and Emma Arrington, all of Thomasville, Spence and Cameron Cooper, both of Whigham, Jeremy Cooper of Cairo, Josh and Dalton Dollar of Cairo, Kaitlyn and Courtney Califf of Thomasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Mary Poitevint of Orange Park, Fla., Billy and Twilla Poitevint of Cairo, Randall and Jean Ann Poitevint of Pelham; and sister, Frances Worsham of Albany, Ga.
Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a grandson, Stuart Thomas Cooper; a brother, Bobby Joe Poitevint; and a sister, Sara Poitevint.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Cooper’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
