David Ross, former catcher for the Atlanta Braves and 2013 World Series Champion for the Boston Red Sox, will be a guest speaker at Grace Christian Academy next Wednesday in the school’s gymnasium.
Ross, a Bainbridge native, will talk about baseball, faith and family. The event is free and open to the public. There will be games and activities starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by Ross speaking at 7 p.m. Fans can bring cards, balls, bats or gloves for Ross to sign afterward.
“He’s a former Brave, so there’s a lot of local interest in him,” GCA pastor John Woodrum said. “It’s pretty exciting to have him come speak.”
Woodrum said he was particularly excited for kids to spend time with Ross. The baseball player is known to talk to kids about the importance of honoring their parents and building a relationship with Jesus.
Ross played a key role during the Red Sox’s run to the World Series, starting in four games and driving in the game-winning run with a double in game five against the St. Louis Cardinals.
