William Edward Chavis, 60, of Attapulgus, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at his residence.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Attapulgus Church of God with Pastor Dana Swain and Charlie Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will follow at Attapulgus Baptist Church Cemetery with Bruce Bennett, Nic Bennett, Tommy Haire, Billy Brown, Zeb DeGraw, and Chuck Enfinger serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Attapulgus Church of God.

Mr. Chavis was born September 15, 1953 in Fayetteville, N.C, the son of Allen Chavis and Betty Hodges Chavis. He was a graduate of Edgewater High School in Orlando, Fla. and was the owner of CDR Home Improvements. Mr. Chavis loved his church. He was a member of Attapulgus Church of God where he served as church clerk. Edward also served the people of Attapulgus as a City Councilman.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Lisa Gunn Chavis of Attapulgus; his daughter, Holly Chavis Hale and her husband, Jack, of Attapulgus; his sister, Helen Gonzalez and her husband, Valentine, of Orlando; his two grandchildren, Ella Rose Hale and Lily Mae Hale; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
