John Irving Day, 62, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at his residence.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill McCamon officiating. Interment will follow at Greenshade Cemetery with Kyle Day, Danny Stephens, Rex Kever, Andre Magueur, Larry Bourne and Pete Stephens serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 323 Pine Ave., Ste 100, Albany, Ga. 31701.
Mr. Day was born November 27, 1951 in Dunedin, Flor. to the late John Bernard Day and Shirley M. Leathers Day. He was a veteran of the United States Army as a helicopter door gunner, serving for two tours in the Vietnam War. Mr. Day retired as a shift supervisor with Engelhard, Corp. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR with his grandchildren, playing golf, and spending time around the fire with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sandy Stephens Day of Bainbridge, Ga.; his sons, Kyle Day and his wife, Nicole, of Bainbridge, Ga. and Rusty Day and his wife, Molly, of Bainbridge, Ga.; his sisters, Joan Magueur and her husband, Andre, of Bainbridge, GA, Renea Kever and her husband, Rex, of Quincy, Flor., and Margie Day of Bainbridge, Ga.; and his grandchildren, Haylie Day, Rylan Day, Preston Day, Caylee Day, Zoey Day, and M. Z. Day; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Sylvia Stephens; his brother-in-law, Danny Stephens and his wife, Alma; his best friend, Larry & Carol Bourne; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Louie.
