Recent trades have put the Braves in a good position for future wins

I really think the Atlanta Braves strengthened their bullpen and their bench through a trade with the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.
They sent minor league catcher Victor Caratini to the Cubs in exchange for catcher Emilio Bonifacio, who can play shortstop, third base or center field, and left-handed pitcher James Russell for minor league catcher Victor Caratini. The Braves also received cash from the Cubs in the deal.
Since the Braves bench has not been very productive, Bonifacio could pay immediate dividends. Russell should also help since the Braves’ key left-handers in the bullpen have been down with injuries.
With right fielder Jason Hayward currently out with a back injury and center fielder B.J. Upton in a batting slump, Bonifacio could soon see some outfield playing time.
The Braves starting pitching has been solid with right handers Julio Teheran, Ervin Santana and University of Georgia Bulldogs left-hander Alex Woods leading the way, but the bullpen could use the left-handed help which Russell can provide. Hard throwing right-handed closer Craig Kimbrel is as good at his craft as any other closer in the game.
Every team is going to have some injuries, but they have to deal with them quickly and I think the Cubs have done that through their trade with the Cubs.
The one thing that a hitter has to have to be successful is great hand-eye coordination and the great hitters have it in abundance.
When you look at an old film of the New York Yankees late Hall of Fame slugger George Herman Babe Ruth, who was one of the greatest home run hitters of all time, he looks fat and out of shape, but he had great hand-eye coordination.
Entering Friday night’s game with the Padres in San Diego, the Braves were just a game and a half behind the National League Eastern Division leading Washington Nationals, and with their new additions, I look for them to soon take over the Division lead.
