The halls of BHS are buzzing with excitement for the Bearcat football game against Cairo that is taking place this Friday night at Centennial Field.
Students are gearing up for what could be considered the most anticipated game of the season. The football players are pushing themselves hard in preparation for the big game. Cheerleaders are hyping up school spirit with painted signs along the hallways. The marching band is perfecting the half-time show, anxious to perform on our home turf. The game is expected to be thrilling for all participants and spectators.
Just about every Bearcat fan looks forward to our game against Cairo High School. For years the Cairo Syrupmakers have been BHS’s biggest football rival.
Bearcats have brought home six wins in the past 10 games played against Cairo throughout the years 2002-2013, and our football players plan on keeping the records in our favor. “During the week of the Cairo game, the energy at practice is very intense because Cairo is our biggest rival,” says Curtis Keaton, a cornerback for the BHS team. Players are working hard in preparation for the game.
The football players are not the only ones getting excited, however. To pump up school spirit in the community, the BHS cheerleaders are hosting the annual Syrup Sop once again. This tradition is always fun for football fans of all ages.
With face paintings, games, cheers, and a children’s parade, the Syrup Sop never fails to bring joy to Bainbridge. The Syrup Sop will be at Willis Park on Thursday, Sept. 4, and starts at 5 p.m. Come out and support your team!
